Bettye Lou Oliger Fox-Wind

A memorial visitation for Bettye Lou Oliger Fox-Wind, 81, of Cairo, GA, will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2024, at Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Bettye passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, FL, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Bettye was born on June 21, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to the late Oda R. Oliger and Audree V. Stobaugh Oliger. She was a retired teacher that was employed as a college, high school and middle school English and speech teacher. She has taught in Texas, Hawaii, Arkansas and Georgia. She was of the Methodist faith.
Bettye Oliger was a beloved figure in life. Her family members will always remember her warmth, sense of humor and inner strength. She loved animals and had many dogs and cat family members as well. As a dedicated English and Speech teacher for 25 years she inspired many lives. Bettye also loved writing and had published two books. She is now a beloved soul in heaven, and we will miss her very much.
Surviving family members include her longtime companion, Robert Wind of Cairo, GA, daughter, Scarlet Andrews of Cairo, GA, Uncle Charles Stobaugh and his daughter, Gayle Stobaugh of St. Louis Missouri, Aunt Jeannie Oliger of Little Rock Arkansas, as well as numerous cousins in Texas, California, Arkansas and Washington State.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Fox, who preceded her in death in 1985 and her parents.
