William Bruce Hale
August 17, 1943 – December 29, 2024

William Bruce Hale, 81, of Cairo, GA, passed away peacefully at his home, Cairo, GA on Sunday December 29, 2024. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Bruce was born on August 17, 1943, in Herrin, IL, to the late William Gene Hale and the late Mazo Irene McNeill Hale.

Mr. Hale was a retired truck driver and auto mechanic. He had a love of older cars and spent many hours working on them with family and friends.

He was a loving father, grandfather and mentor to his family. He served his country in in the US Navy from 1960 – 1964. He was quick to mention a story from his beloved USS Howard S. Gilmore or from his base in Norfolk, VA. He loved to buy and sell cars and always said you can’t sell a car without a story.

Bruce is survived by his sons, Michael Todd Hale (Lynn) of Cairo, GA, Justin Rielly Hale (Ashley) of Noblesville, IN, James Dudley Buchanan of Fort Worth, TX, Julie Brashears of Fort Worth, TX and Beverly Rayburn (Sam) of Houston, TX. He was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Wayne Hale of Fort Worth, TX; as well as a host of niece, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Bruce Hale, II; grandsons, Michael Anthony “Tony” Hale, Bruce Lee Buchanan, Michael Seay; son-in-law, Jeffery Brashears; and brothers, Miachel Evan Hale, Ricky Gene Hale and Mark Bradley Hale.
