Edward Michael Hanley

Funeral services for Edward Michael Hanley, 96, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Military Honors will be presented at the chapel. Services will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Hanley passed away at Archbold Living – Grady in Cairo, GA on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Mr. Hanley was born on March 1, 1928, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Edward Walter Hanley and Mary A. Lageman Hanley. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. On July 19, 1947, he married Marion MacArthur Hanley, who preceded him in death on July 19, 2008. He retired as an operating engineer from Hendrickson Brothers, Inc. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the International Union of Operating Engineer Local 138. Edward was a member of the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church here in Cairo.

Survivors include: his son, Edward K. Hanley (Donna) of Tillson, NY; grandchildren, Laura M. Gallant of Matthews, NC, Edward J. Hanley (Peri) of Milton, NY, Brian T. Hanley of Highland, NY, Katherine M. Plover (Sean) of Milton, NY; great-grandchildren, Jacob Broome of Charlotte NC, Jasen Gallant of Matthews NC, Novali Hanley of Milton NY, Kiera Hanley of Milton NY, Ryan Hanley of Highland, NY, Aiden Hanley of Highland NY, Sive Marion Plover of Milton, NY, Mairead Plover of Milton, NY; siblings, Richard J. Hanley of Colonia, NJ, Grace A. Hanley of Toms River, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and his sisters, Mary A. Vassilatos, Joan A. Cupo and Lorraine P. Hawks.
