Barbara Jane Walden

Funeral services for Barbara Jane Walden, 80, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Gordon Heights Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. William Hurst will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Walden passed away at her home on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Active pallbearers will be Nat Higdon, Dusty Moore, Darren Moore, Chad Walden, Andy Mealor and John Long.

Mrs. Walden was born on August 21, 1944, in Cairo, GA, to the late Warren Gwinn Booth and Joyce Lorene Barrett Booth. On June 30, 1963, she married William Stephens “Billy” Walden. They were married for over 61 years. She retired as a bookkeeper with Ameris Banking Company in Cairo. She was a devoted member and worker of Gordon Heights Baptist Church in Cairo. She worked with the kitchen hospitality staff and with the youth.

Survivors include: her husband, William Stephens “Billy” Walden of Cairo, GA; her son, Jamie Walden (Tonya) of Dunwoody, GA; grandchildren, Samantha Walden of Dunwoody, GA, Cooper Walden of Dunwoody, GA; sisters, Peggy Wheeler of Whigham, GA, Elizabeth Walden of Moultrie, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family

She was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Kevin Walden; and an infant brother.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Walden’s memory to: Gordon Height Baptist Church, 1351 5th Street SE, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at the church.
