Albert Roger “Rod” Strickland, Jr.
September 17, 1978 – April 5, 2025

Funeral services for Albert Roger “Rod” Strickland, Jr., 46, of Ochlocknee, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Whigham Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Robbie Chaplin and Pastor Laura Wells will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Strickland passed away at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA, on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Shulla, Kevin Shulla, Tyler Hester, Jon Hester, Marcus West and Greg Ferrell.

Mr. Strickland was born on September 17, 1978, in Thomasville, GA, to Roger Strickland, Sr. and Olivia Rackley Willoughby. He was a Maintenance Technician with Lasso Communities. Rod loved Jesus, fishing, and watching sports, especially his Georgia Bulldogs. He also loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them grow up. He cherished spending time at the Rackley and Strickland family gatherings. Rod treasured his time at ChristTown Ministries, sharing his experiences with others through Jesus Christ. He was of the Christian faith.

Rod loved the University of Georgia and its sporting traditions. You are welcome to wear your “Georgia Red and Black Attire” in memory of Rod to the service.

Survivors include: his mother, Olivia Willoughby (Art) of Thomasville, GA; father, Roger Strickland, Sr. (Sylvia) of Harriman, TN; sister, Rachelle Patten (Gerald) of Thomasville, GA; nephews, Tyler Hester (Chelsea) of Cairo, GA, Jon Hester of Cairo, GA; great-nephew, Tucker Rackley Hester; and nieces, Jadyn Hester (Marcus West) of Thomasville, GA, Peyton Patten of Cairo, GA.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Onnie and Jewel Rackley, AQ and Nelda Strickland.

The family will receive friends at Whigham Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
