Alene Hopkins Anderson

Alene Hopkins Anderson, 89, of Cairo, GA, passed away at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton, GA, on Thursday, July 9, 2020. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA.

Mrs. Anderson was born on September 24, 1930, in Pelham, GA, to the late Vance G. Hopkins and Sally Mae Adams Hopkins. On December 18, 1948, she married James Edgar Anderson, who preceded her in death on March 2, 1983. She was a graduate of Cairo High School in 1947. She was employed with Coats and Clark in Pelham Georgia for over 40 years. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: her son-in-law, Tommy Norton of Tifton, GA; daughter-in-law, Ilene Anderson of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Scott Norton of Alpharetta, GA, Renee Rutland (Chip) of Warner Robins, GA, Jamie Anderson (Wendy) of Cantonment, FL, Shelly Harrell (Bo) of Whigham, GA, Sabrina Whigham (Charles) of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Jared Anderson, both of Thomasville, GA, Jesse and Hanna Harrell, both of Whigham, GA, Callie and Aubrey Whigham, both of Cairo, GA; Analeece and Zachary Rutland, both of Warner Robins, GA; sister, Clarine Hopkins Waldron of Cairo, GA; and brother-in-law, Clayton Hudson of Cairo, GA.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Morris Anderson; daughter, Lynell Norton; four sisters and one brother.
