Alvin Raburn Avery
June 7, 1947 – December 22, 2020

Funeral services for Alvin Raburn Avery, 73, of Whigham, GA, are on Saturday, December 26, 2020, in Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA.    Elder Jon Mizell will officiate.  Mr. Avery passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

Mr. Avery was born on June 7, 1947, the second son of John and Voncile Brock Avery.  Raburn was the owner and operator of Avery’s Garage in Whigham, GA.  On September 17, 1966, he married his sweetheart, Clarcia Harrison and they were married 54 years.  He was a deacon and member of Piedmont Primitive Baptist Church in Calvary.

Survivors include: his wife, Clarcia Avery of Whigham, GA; son, Scott Avery (Dede) of Cairo, GA; daughter-in-love, Sheryl Patten (Dwight) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Carolyn Walden (Eric), Rob Avery (Casey), Ashley Salter (Kevin), Jeffrey Avery, (Brandy), Timothy Sanders, Katie Patten (Justin Gainous); great-grandchildren, Tristan, Amelia, Sarah Abigail, Peyton, Avery, Bentley, Bryden, Kyler, Kenleigh, Aubrey, Jase; brothers, John Avery, Rick Avery (Leslie), Ronnie Avery; sister, Diane Pilcher (Earl); sisters-in-love, Nancy Brafford, Susan Anderson, Gail Harrison, Sarah Voyles; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; son, Howard Avery, and brothers-in-law, Manly Brafford, Steve Anderson, Mike Voyles.
