Memorial services for Barbara Jane Hall Tate, 56, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ricky Whitley will officiate. Services will conclude at the Chapel. Mrs. Tate passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Monday, September 26, 2016.

Mrs. Tate was born on December 25, 1959, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Donald E. Hall and Barbara Bell Wilford Gentry, who survives. On September 20, 1986, she married Tommy Tate, who survives. She was activist for dog rescues and worked to find suitable homes for rescued dogs. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: husband, Tommy Tate of Cairo, GA; daughters, Jennifer Michelle Tate of Cairo, GA, Tara Brittney T. Mathis (Josh) of Cairo, GA, Barbara Lynn Tate of Cairo, GA; sons, Jonathan Tate (Christina) of Cairo, GA, Mark Tate of Jacksonville, FL, Steven Tate (Brandy) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Hayden Mathis, Jonathan Tate, Harmony Tate, Jace Tate, Nashia Tate, Dathian Tate, all of Cairo, GA; mother, Barbara Gentry of Jacksonville, FL; stepfather, James Gentry, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Celeste Mark (Richard) of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, John Kurlin (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA; Rodney Kurlin (Pam) of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family

She was preceded in death by: father, Donald E. Hall; stepfather, John Kurlin, Sr.; sister, Donna Hall; brothers-in-law, James C. Tate, Bobby Joe Tate, Brian Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Tate’s memory to any animal rescue shelter of your choice.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the memorial service.
