Memorial services for Belton Robert Dykes, Jr., 80, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Connection Assembly, 2123 Smith Ave, Thomasville, GA. Pastor Jason Puckett will officiate. Military honors will be presented at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Sylvester, GA. Mr. Dykes passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Mr. Dykes was born on August 11, 1944, in Worth County, GA, to the late Belton Robert Dykes, Sr. and Mary Connell Dykes. He served his country in the United States Army. On October 29, 1964, he married Vivian Gail Nelms Dykes, who survives. They were married for almost 60 years. He retired as the agency manager of Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Cairo. He was a devoted member of the Connection Assembly in Thomasville, GA.
Survivors include: his wife, Gail Dykes of Cairo, GA; son, Robert Dykes, III, (Vickie) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Graham Dykes (Ashley) of Warner Robins, GA, Emoree Dykes of Warner Robins, GA; great-grandson, Davis Dykes of Warner Robins, GA; and a host of extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patsy Dykes Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Dykes’ memory to the Connection Assembly, 2123 Smith Ave, Thomasville, GA 31792.
The family will receive friends at the Connection Assembly Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
