Betty Jean Arline McNair Jones
October 5, 1933 – January 12, 2023
It is with great sadness, we announce the death of Betty Arline McNair Jones, 89, on January 12, 2023. She was a loving Mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. She was considered a treasured friend and will be deeply missed. She loved God and her family with a passion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sam Vernon will officiate. Interment will follow at Mizpah Cemetery in Grady County. Mrs. Jones passed away at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home in Thomasville, where she was considered their angel. She had her family by her side.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Active pallbearers will be Ron Arline, George Arline, Joel Arline, Greg Arline, Sammy Perkins and Kevin Whigham. Honorary pallbearers are Kirby Logue, Hilmon Logue, Bernard Logue, Deryck Perkins, Terry Whigham, George Smith and the Burleigh Law Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Jones was born on October 5, 1933, in Grady County to the late Ruel L. Arline and Iris Logue Arline. She was a 1952 graduate of Cairo High School, where she was Homecoming Queen. She also attended Whigham High School. She was a long-time employee of Tallahassee Federal Savings and Loan. A devoted member of the Cairo First United Methodist Church and a member of the Burleigh Law Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Cairo Women’s Club, the Cairo Garden Club, the Friends of Heart Club and the FUMC Women’s Club. Betty was admired for her cooking and baking skills. She is well-known for her sourdough bread and deserts. She loved angels, the Florida State Seminoles, playing cards with friends, and her family. She was kind, compassionate and funny and held on to her stunning beauty all through her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ruel L. and Iris Logue Arline, her brothers, Howard, Larry, Lynwood, Benny, Ross, and Bill, her sister Bobby Marie, sisters-in-law, Sandra Bishop Arline, and Jeanette Bass Arline.
She leaves behind her daughter, Melanie McNair (Allen Smith) of Huntsville, AL, her son John F. McNair (Sandy) of Tallahassee, her adored twin granddaughters, Danielle and Arielle McNair of Tallahassee, her sister Lucy Arline Whigham (Terry) of Vidalia, GA, sisters-in-laws, Judy Willis Arline of Thomasville, GA, Lucy Arline of Peachtree City, GA, and Pat Arline of Snellville, GA, and Steve Chellman of Tallahassee, who was like a son to her, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wherever she lived, she greatly enjoyed being an active member in her church. She also leaves behind a feline named Bobby that she greatly adored and remembered until the end.
