Funeral services for Betty Sellars Vickers, 85, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Elder Jimmy Smith and Pastor Marc Walters will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Vickers passed away at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday, January 2, 2023.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Cameron, DeWayne, Tyler, Parker Madison, Collie, Chase, Joseph and Josh.
Mrs. Vickers was born on March 31, 1938, in Cairo, GA, to the late Marvin Roland Sellars and Clyde Enice Sellars. On January 31, 1953, she married William Walter Vickers, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2008. She retired from the Nutrition Department at Thomas County High School in Thomasville. Betty can also be remembered as a friendly waitress at several local restaurants in Cairo. She was a member of Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her children, James Ladon “Donnie” Vickers (Schannon) of Spruce Pine, NC, Beth Kines (Sam) of Cairo, GA, Renae Prince of Cairo, GA, Lamar Vickers (Lee) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Melissa Mirick (Randall) of Cairo, GA, LaDonna Coffee (DeWayne) of Tifton, GA, Jamie Vickers (Sara) of Spruce Pine, NC, Collie Prince (Amanda) of Cairo, GA, Chase Prince (Caroline) of Cairo, GA, Cameron Vickers (Ashley) of Cairo, GA, Brooke Vickers of Cairo, GA, Josh Kines (Amanda) of Cairo, GA; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bobby Sellars (Helen) of Cairo, GA, Margie Weaver (John) of Pelham, GA, Carline Tramell of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; granddaughter, Rhonda Ortiz; brother, John Marvin Sellars; and a sister, Josephine Sellars.
