Funeral services for Bonnie Sue Davis Gainous, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Larry Layfield will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Gainous passed away at her home in Cairo, GA, on Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2017.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Gainous was born on June 18, 1934, in Hopeful, GA, to the late Thomas David Davis and Susie Rackley Davis. On December 26, 1953, she married Johnny Wesley Gainous, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 14, 1996. She was the owner and operator of South Georgia Drilling Company with her husband for over 40 years. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: daughter, Elaine Maskevich (Mike) of Tallahassee, FL; sons, Mike Gainous (Vickie) of Cairo, GA, Bruce Gainous of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Dustin Gainous (Amanda) of Cairo, GA, Blair Gainous (Lea) of Oakland, CA, Cody Gainous (Andrea) of Cairo, GA, Liza Feddon (Aaron) of Niceville, FL, Michael Maskevich (Alexis) of Tallahassee, FL, Summer Maskevich of Tallahassee, FL, Joel Gainous (Kayla) of Cairo, GA, Austin Dewayne Gainous (Ashley) of Moultrie, GA; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jewell D. Meek of Gainesville, GA, Jean Baugh of Huntsville, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their love and appreciate to her caregivers, Mary Alice Hunter, Tina Walden and Marion Cochran.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; her son, Wesley Gainous, Jr.; her grandson, Sterling Lee Murphy; and eleven brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral service.
