Funeral services for Carolyn Norton Griffin, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Matt Vickers and Rev. Jeff Ezell will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Griffin passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Active pallbearers will be Clay Norton, Chad Norton, Kevin Ingram, Shay Walden, John Long and Casey Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be Clint Norton, Blake Norton, Dusty Norton, Andrew Ingram, Stacey Ingram, Tim Bracewell, Phillip Clark, Terry Harrison and Keith Johnson.
Mrs. Griffin was born on August 11, 1940, in Cairo, GA, to the late Lonzo L. Norton and Susan “Susie” Keene Norton. On June 14, 1958, she married Kenneth Royce Griffin, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2020. They were married for over 61 years. She retired from the Torrington Company after 35 years of employment. During this time, she worked as a certified nursing assistant and also served as a “Pink Lady” for many years at Grady General Hospital. She was a devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: sons, James Randall Griffin of Whigham, GA, Michael Kenneth Griffin of Cairo, GA; daughter, Margaret Anita Gardner of Americus, GA; grandchildren, Carley Faith Griffin of Whigham, GA, Leon Gardner of Camilla, GA, Leann Gardner of Alabama; sisters, Faye Ingram (Lloyd) of Cairo, GA, Betty Bearden (Bubba) of Cairo, GA; brothers, Laverne Norton (Cathy) of Cairo, GA, Charlie Norton (Teresa) of Cairo, GA; brother-in-law, Robert Long of Cairo, GA; sister-in-law, Beverly Walden of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; grandchild, Randall Cody Griffin; sisters, Margaret Norton Ouzts, Sarah Norton Long; and brothers, Coy Norton, Z.E. Norton.
