Claude Lee Ponder
October 23, 1934 – April 30, 2023

Funeral services for Claude Lee Ponder, 88, of Whigham, GA, are at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Trinity Primitive Baptist Church, Whigham, GA.  Elder Jon Mizell and Elder Tony Marshall will officiate.  Interment will be in Trinity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mr. Ponder passed away at Grady General Hospital on Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be Trey Ezell, Jeremy Ezell, Harley Ponder, Glenn Ponder, Ken Ponder and Chris Shiver.

Mr. Ponder was born on October 23, 1934, in Whigham, GA, to the late Alton C. Ponder and Edna Chason Ponder.  He served his country in the United States Army.  On January 29, 1961, he married Jeri Lairsey Ponder, who preceded him in death on May 12, 1998.  They were married for over 37 years.  He was a farmer and a member of the Trinity Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his children, Gregory Ponder (Liz) of Whigham, GA, Penny Ezell (David) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Trey Ezell (Lauren) of Boston, GA, Taylor Shiver (Chris) of Pelham, GA, Harley Ponder of Whigham, GA, Jeremy Ezell of Whigham, GA, Emilee Ezell of Jacksonville, NC; great-grandchildren, Wilder Shiver of Pelham, GA, Dylan Vann of Boston, GA, Tayler Vann of Boston, GA; sisters, Wanda Parker of Jacksonville, FL, Velma Ponder of Cairo, GA; special caretaker, Teanna Ponder; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Edwin Ponder and Ottis Ponder.
