Clyde Laverne Norton

Graveside funeral services for Clyde Laverne Norton, 81, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Pastor Kenneth Cloud and Pastor Marc Walters will officiate. Mr. Norton passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Active pallbearers will be David Norton, J. L. Rosencrantz, Mac Rosencrantz, Randy Holton, Chuck Zotyka, George Thomas, Ray Gainey and George Batchelor.

Mr. Norton was born on May 19, 1943, in Cairo, GA, to the late Lonzo L. Norton and Susan “Susie” Keene Norton. On June 9, 1967, he married Cathy Brinson Norton, who survives. They have been married for over 57 years. He was the Warehouse and Transportation Manager for Oil-Dri Corporation of America for 43 years. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: his wife, Cathy B. Norton of Cairo, GA; sons, Clay Norton (Cindy), Chad Norton (Brandi) and Casey Norton (Kristy), all of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Tanner Norton of Cairo, GA, Kelsie Oliver (Zach) of LaFayette, GA, Lily Norton of Cairo, GA, Cheyne Norton of Cairo, GA, Albree Norton of Cairo, GA, Caylee Norton of Cairo, GA; sisters, Faye Ingram (Lloyd) of Cairo, GA, Betty Bearden (Bubba) of Cairo, GA; brother, Charlie Norton (Teresa) of Cairo, GA; brother-in-law, Robert Long of Cairo, GA; sister-in-law, Beverly Walden of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Carolyn Norton Griffin, Margaret Norton Ouzts, Sarah Norton Long; and brothers, Coy Norton, Z.E. Norton.
