Daniel Carl “DanDan” Jones
July 12, 1939 – January 31, 2021
Daniel Carl “DanDan” Jones, 81, of Whigham, GA, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 31, 2021. A memorial services will be held at a later time.
Active pallbearers will be Ralph Daughtry, Dennis Long, Greg Peart, Dean Lee, Jerry Collins and Jay Corbett. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Hopkins, Carroll Hopkins, Carey VanLandingham, Chuck Stafford and Mike Chastain.
Mr. Jones was born on July 12, 1939, in Cairo, GA, to the late William Carl Jones and Leona Maxwell Jones. Dan was a graduate of Cairo High School and the University of Georgia. He served his country in the United States Navy. On April 19, 1968, he married Phyllis Lanter Jones, who survives. He was a lifelong farmer and he was the owner and operator of Dan Jones Farms. He was a member of the Calvary Lions Club, the American Legion and the Thursday Night Poker Club. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis Jones of Whigham, GA; children, Clif Jones (Michelle) of Whigham, GA, Mike Jones (Denise) of Valdosta, GA, Carrie Meuninck (Todd) of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren, Lacy Jones of Salt Lake City, UT, Daniel Jones of Whigham, GA, Kalen Jones of Cairo, GA, Haleigh Meuninck, Taylor Meunick, Garrett Meuninck, all of Fayetteville, GA; siblings, Carolyn Jones Trawick of Cairo, GA, Roy Jones (Faith) of Cairo, GA, Frank Jones (Lora) of Lilburn, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Robert Clifton Jones, Jr.
