Daniel Gordon “DG” Sweat

Funeral services for Daniel Gordon “DG” Sweat, 84, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Kerry Dinkins and Rev. Freddie Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Sweat passed away at Archbold Living-Cairo surrounded by his loving wife of 59 years on Friday morning, April 25, 2025.
Active pallbearers will be Koby Pyrz, Eli Pyrz, Drew Pyrz, Don O’Steen, Steven Sweat, Cade Culbreath, Beau Burdette. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Brown and Brian Sweat.
Mr. Sweat was born on November 21, 1940, in Blackshear, GA, to the late Alfred Colquitt Sweat and Johnnie Mae Smith Sweat. He served his country in the Army National Guard. On July 9, 1965, he married Jeanne Brown Sweat. He was known affectionally as “DG”, “Danny” or “DanDan” by his family and friends. He retired from management in the Southern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany, GA.
DanDan was always happiest when hunting or fishing with his family. Countless memories were made on a boat on the coast or in the woods stalking a big buck! His talents were many and could fix almost anything if given a minute or two. He enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in all their various activities. He was blessed with a loving and devoted wife who selflessly cared for him especially in the last few years.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeanne Sweat of Cairo, GA; his daughters, Shanda Pyrz (Drew) of Cairo, GA, Susan Sweat of Cairo, GA, Shelah Burdette of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Koby Pyrz (Katie) of Athens, GA, Eli Pyrz of Athens, GA, Brantley Burdette of Albany, GA, Beau Burdette of Albany, GA, Cade Culbreath of Cairo, GA; brother-in-law, Butch Carter of Blackshear, GA; sister-in-law, Tanda Sweat of Waycross, GA; his best friend of many years Don O’Steen of Boston, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Jerri Ann Carter; and a brother, Al Sweat.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
