Danny Wade Harrell
August 9, 1953 – March 23, 2024
Funeral services for Danny Wade Harrell, 70, of Whigham, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Jeff Ezell will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Grady County Veterans Honor Guard. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Harrell passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Active pallbearers will be Tim Harrell, Connor Ezell, Brian McLaughlin, Donnie Youngman, Toby Key and Joey Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Ray Pearce, Kelvin Harrell, Clay Murphy, Wesley Stokes, Phillip Stokes, Kenneth Harrell and Sam Harrell.
Mr. Harrell was born on August 9, 1953, in Cairo, GA, to the late Melton Harrell and the late Wilma Day Harrell. He married Peggy Norman Harrell on March 16, 1974. A veteran of the US Army, he was also a master mechanic and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
Danny kept people rolling in laughter because he could find humor in the most mundane life circumstances. He could bring a smile to your face and laugh along with you and at you. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had many stories to tell of his adventurous life, that will live in the lives of his loved ones.
Danny was a jack of all trades. He was a skilled and master craftsman. He could turn a piece of wood into a fine masterpiece. Building anything from furniture to houses, he was a fine craftsman. His most prized piece of craftsmanship was his little cabin in the woods that he built with his special cousin, Tim. His talents can be seen all throughout his cabin.
If he wasn’t working with wood, he would have been on the Flint or Ochlocknee River, wetting a hook. He could often be found on the river fishing with his cousin, Donnie. Danny retired from his employment as mechanic of over 30 years, serving many people throughout his career. He was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Peggy Norman Harrell of Whigham, GA; sons, Brent Harrell (Christy) of Cairo, GA and Davin Harrell (Kirstyn) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Morgan Harrell (Gage) of Climax, GA and Aybry Harrell of Whigham, GA; sister-in-law, Gloria Batchelor (Roger) of Cairo, GA; special nieces, Lisa Ezell (Jeff) of Cairo, GA and Shalon McLaughlin (Brian) of Cairo, GA; special cousins, who were like brothers, Tim Harrell (Tammie) of Whigham, GA and Donnie Youngman (Darlene) of Whigham, GA; fur-babies, Pepper (DogDog) and grand-dog, Moose. He is also survived by other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Connie Harrell Smith; and brother-in-law, Buddy Norman.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
A heartfelt thanks to his special cousin, Tim Harrell who was more like a brother, for always being there for him. Special thanks to the Staff of Archbold-Grady and Archbold-Thomas for the excellent care provided to Danny during his recent illness.
