Memorial services for Darrell Keith Brinkley, 63, of Cairo, GA, are 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Faith Christian Center. Pastor David Coleman, Sr. will officiate. Mr. Brinkley passed away at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
He was born on November 8, 1961, in Commander Fleet Activities Base, Yokosuka, Japan, to the late Harvey Eugene “Gene” Brinkley and the late Opal Lou Brinson Brinkley. On June 25, 1983, he married Melisa Murphy Brinkley, who survives. He served in the United States Air Force from 1986 until 1990, earning the of rank of Sergeant, was a teacher and was a member of Faith Christian Center.
Survivors include his wife, Melisa Murphy Brinkley of Cairo, GA; children, Caleb Brinkley (Melinda) of Hope Mills, NC, Zachary Brinkley (Grace) of Crawfordville, FL, Teri Brinkley of Chattanooga, TN, Travis Worley (Caroline) of Lake Wales, FL; daughter-in-law, Lindsay Brinkley of Pearisburg, VA; grandchildren, Tristan, Charleigh, Reagan, Declan, Weston, Beau and Anna; brother, Skip Brinkley (Sheila) of Jacksonville, FL; mother-in-law, Pearl Murphy of Thomasville, GA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brandon Brinkley; and father-in-law, Terre Murphy.
