Darryl Eugene Hooks

Memorial services for Darryl Eugene Hooks, 62, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2024, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Mr. Hooks passed away at his home on February 25, 2025.

Mr. Hooks was born on May 8, 1962, in Cairo, GA, to the late J. E. Hooks and Shirley Mae Simpson Hooks. On Nov. 12, 1988, he married Amanda Godwin Hooks, who survives. They were married for over 36 years. Darryl retired as a lineman with the Grady Electric Membership Corporation in Cairo.

Darryl was a devoted husband, loving father, and true adventurer at heart. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, ensuring they were always cared for and loved. More than just a hard worker, he was the life of the party—always ready for a good time and making memories with those he cherished.

One of his greatest passions was deep-sea fishing, where he found joy, adventure, and plenty of stories to tell. Whether on the water or at home, he lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with laughter and love.

His family and friends will forever treasure his kindness, strength, and the countless good times shared. His legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Survivors include: his wife, Amanda Hooks of Cairo, GA; children, Emily Barber (Brad) of Cairo, GA, Abigail Hooks of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Alexis Barber, Leah Barber, Both of Cairo, GA, Ian Bruce of Havana, FL; sister, Donna Webb (Randall) of Omega, GA; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his daughter, Molly Hooks; and a brother, Darren Hooks.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the memorial service.
