Dennis Lamar Mitchell
September 12, 1965 – April 9, 2023

Graveside funeral services for Dennis Lamar Mitchell, 57, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in Gainey Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Kerry Dinkins will officiate.  Mr. Mitchell passed away at his home on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Nelson, Scott Lee, Phil Troyer, Dan Dunlop and Jay Corbett.

Mr. Mitchell was born on September 12, 1965, in Cairo, GA, to the late Wendell Lamar Mitchell and Kathryn Virginia Lee Mitchell.  He was a heavy equipment hauler with Sunbelt Rental of Tallahassee.  He has been a member for 26 years of the Calvary Volunteer Fire Department.  Dennis was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church.  His hobbies included civil war reenacting, fishing, and kayaking.

Survivors include: his son, Brandon L. Mitchell (Jennifer) of Somerville, MA; brother, John H. Mitchell (Tara) of Cairo, GA; sisters, Jackie M. Mobley (Glenn) of Cairo, GA, Carol A. Lawler (Greg) of Cairo, GA; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Mobley of Tallahassee, FL, Mitch Carter and Dillon Strunck of Mobile, AL, Nicholas Carter, Jacob Lawler (Caren), Kayden Carraway, all of Cairo, GA, Jackson Mitchell of Tallahassee, FL, Maclay Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY; great-nieces, Alexis, Gracie and Hannah Jones, all of Cairo, GA; and his fur babies, Buddy, Bella and Hank.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at graveside.
