Donald Lee Womble

Funeral services for Donald Lee Womble, 80, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2021, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Womble passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Harrison, Bill Griner, David Stewart, Duane Davis, Dexter Harrison, Willard Powe, Wayne Hadden and Grey Shiver. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department, Whigham Volunteer Fire Department and Cairo County Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Womble was born on June 18, 1941, in Cairo, GA, to the late Hershal L. Womble and Lousie Horton Womble. On February 3, 1963, he married Beverly Tinsley Womble, who survives. They were married for 58 years. Donald was the plant manager with Alltel Telephone Company until his retirement. He was a founding member of the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department established in 1985. He enjoyed farming and raising crops for friends and family. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that was always happy to be with his family. He was a devoted member of Pine Level Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: his wife, Beverly T. Womble of Cairo, GA; children, Sheila W. Cape (Jeffrey), Sherri W. Kesler (George), both of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Macey L. Kesler (fiancé, Brandon Ponder), Bryson H. Cape (fiancée, Hannah Maxwell), Anna M. Kesler, Carrie K. Stanaland, Georgia K. Hammond, all of Cairo, GA; a host of great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Richard Allan Womble; brothers, Wendall Womble, Robert Womble; sister, Joyce Womble Rogers; father-in-love and mother-in-love Milton and Ruth G. Tinsley.
