Funeral services for Arvard Donnie Ulmer, 66, of Whigham, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Chad Cooper will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be in Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Ulmer passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Thursday, December 15, 2016.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 122 Honor Guard.
Mr. Ulmer was born on October 11, 1950, in Cairo, GA, to the late Arvis Arvard Ulmer and Kathleen Singletary Ulmer. He served his country in the United States Air Force. On October 19, 1991, he married Mary Joyce Martin Ulmer, who survives. He was the owner and operator of Donnie Ulmer Construction. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Joyce Ulmer of Whigham, GA; sons, Donnie Ray Ulmer (Tiffany) of Oakfield, GA, Richard Chad Ulmer (Amanda) of Havana, FL; daughter, Sherri Denise Thompson (Shannon) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Dylan Heath Vaughn of Thomasville, GA, Dakota Ryan Vaughn of Cairo, GA, Ray Andrew Ulmer of Mulberry, FL, Ashton Eliza Ulmer of Oakfield, GA, Evalyn Joy Ulmer of Havana, FL; step-daughters, Kathryn Jewel Brown (Stan) of Sanford, FL, Patricia Ann Alday (Charles) of Deltona, FL; four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Linda D. Guthrie; and a sister, Kathy Womble.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, December 17, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
