Doris Griffith Alexander

Private graveside funeral services for Doris Griffith Alexander, 83, of Gulfport, FL, will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Mike Nichols will officiate.  Mrs. Alexander passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Gulfport, FL, on Monday, July 27, 2020.

Mrs. Alexander was born on May 21, 1937, in Tennessee to the late Bruce and Josie Griffith.  On June 18, 1966, she married Charles Edwin Alexander, who preceded her in death on July 25, 2004.  She worked as a foreman for Ben Walters, Inc. as well as a department manager for Walmart before retiring.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include: two children, Lorna Alexander Sanderson of Gulfport, FL and Randal Gregory Alexander of St. Petersburg, FL; one grandchild, Chad Eric Brock of Gulfport, FL; one brother, Bruce Griffith, Jr. of Bradenton, FL, and three sisters, Joyce Hamby of Bronson, FL, Betty Wolfe of Daytona Beach, FL, and Carol Chism of Trinity, FL.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; three brothers, Ray Griffith, Ralph Griffith, and James Griffith; and three sisters, Bernice Frye, Jessie Gorecki, and Geneva Gadd.
