Douglas Braxton “Doug” Pearce

Private graveside funeral services for Douglas Braxton “Doug” Pearce, 75, of Cairo, GA, are on Sunday, September 27, 2020, in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate.   Mr. Pearce passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Thursday, September 24, 2020.

Mr. Pearce was born on December 8, 1944, in Cairo, GA, to the late Ivey Lonza Pearce and Mamie Clyde Hurst Pearce.  He served his country in the United States Air Force.  On October 4, 1969, he married Dorothy Marie Harrison Pearce, who survives.  He was self-employed in building and home construction and later as a rural mail carrier.  He was a member and a Deacon of Pine Level Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Dorothy Pearce of Cairo, GA; daughter, Sherry Gainous (Barry) of Cairo, GA; son, Richard Pearce (Carla) of Cairo. GA; grandchildren, Gayla Gainous (Brandon), Garrett Gainous, both of Cairo, GA, Erin Pearce, Sara Pearce, Ryan Pearce, all of Cairo, GA; sister, Myrtice Hurst of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Frances Sellers, Shirley Gilliard; and brothers, Johnny Pearce, Albert Pearce, Winford Pearce, Alton Pearce, Leo Pearce, Alvin Pearce, Archester Pearce, Randall Pearce.
