Mrs. Edith Annette Boyette Steere, affectionately known as Annette to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama, at Grandview Medical Center (Birmingham) after a short illness. Born on September 8, 1941, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to Johnny Raymond Boyette and Florence Octavia Collins Boyette, Annette’s life was a testament to her generous spirit, her loving heart, and her exceptional handiness, all of which left a profound impact on those around her.

Annette’s early years in Whigham were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and the joys of Southern living. She carried the values of her childhood throughout her life, infusing her own family with the same sense of love and togetherness that she had experienced. Annette’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with devotion to her family, a passion for creation, and an endless capacity for giving.

She is survived by a loving and grateful family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters, Connie Jean Rozwarski of Gilbert, Arizona, and Florence Annette Pauley of Wedowee, Alabama. Annette was a proud and doting grandmother to James Bevins, David Bevins, Shaena Shadowens, Jacob Rozwarski, and Joshua Pauley, and she reveled in the joys of being a great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Henry Boyette, Billy Boyette, Johnnie Elaine Boyette, Jennifer Elizabeth Waits, and Mamie Deloris Tomes, will remember her as a sister who always provided strength and comfort. She is also survived by special friends and caregivers, Larry and Kathy Luke and Randy and Sharon Baker.

Annette was welcomed into the next life by those who preceded her in death: her beloved grandchild, Kayla Pauley, her cherished grandchild, Tiffany Pauley, her loving parents, Johnny Raymond Boyette and Florence Octavia Boyette, and her dear sister, Margaret Ann Morris. Her reunion with them is a solace to those she leaves behind, who find peace in the knowledge that she is enveloped in love on both sides of the veil.

Annette’s life was characterized by her generosity, which was as abundant as the Southern sun. She gave freely of her time, her resources, and her talents, always eager to lend a hand or offer support. Her handiness was legendary; there was no task too complex or challenge too great for her to tackle. With a tool in hand and determination in her heart, Annette could fix, create, and beautify anything she set her mind to.

Above all, Annette was loving. Her affection knew no bounds, and she expressed her love through her actions-be it a home-cooked meal, her baked goods, a hand-sewn quilt, or simply her presence in times of need. Her love was her legacy, and it will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to receive it.

Annette’s life journey was one of joy, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on the world. Her spirit, imbued with warmth and light, will continue to guide and inspire us all.

Though we mourn the loss of Mrs. Edith Annette Boyette Steere, we also take comfort in the countless memories she has given us-memories that will continue to bring smiles and solace as we navigate the path ahead without her. Her story does not end here, for she lives on in every act of kindness she bestowed and in every life she touched.

We honor Annette’s memory by carrying forward the love and compassion she exemplified. Her legacy is a beacon that will continue to light our way, and her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
