Funeral services for Floyce Mae Johnson Crew, 96, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Carl Harrell will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Crew passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Saturday, October 17, 2015.
Active pallbearers will be Earl Sasser, James Oates, Darrell Scarbrough, Mark Bishop, Jamie McCorkle and Maurice Rykard.
Mrs. Crew was born on January 5, 1919, in Decatur County, GA, to the late Charles Melton Johnson and Sarah Zudie Harrison Johnson. On January 8, 1938, she married Raymond Edward Crew, who preceded her in death on October 13, 1959. After losing her beloved Raymond at the age of 41, she devoted her life to rearing and providing for her children. She was a true lady with a gentle and sweet spirit. Floyce’s lovely blue eyes and smile will always be remembered by those that loved her. She retired from the Grady County Board of Education after many years of service in the school cafeteria. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Ann C. Godwin of Cairo, GA; daughter-in-law, Wanda C. Crew of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Amanda and Jim McRae of Thomasville, GA, Wendy and Chris Beatty of Thomasville, GA; great-grandchildren, Kyle Riley, Kortney Riley, Daylee Beatty, Dalyn Beatty, all of Thomasville, GA; great-great-granddaughter, Skylar Grace Riley of Thomasville, GA; and sister-in-law, Emma Dell Crew of Cairo, GA.
She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; son, Charles Edward Crew; brother, Harold Johnson; and sisters, Agnes Daughtry, Bernice Walden, Lessie Harrison.
In lieu of flowers or monetary memorials, a kind deed or visit to an elderly person or shut-in done in Mrs. Crew’s memory will be a lasting tribute.
The family will receive friends at Mrs. Crew’s home, 590 9th Ave. SE, Cairo, GA.
