Funeral services for Gene Cox, 69, of Pelham, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2017, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Darrell Owens and Rev. Eric Mitchell will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Park Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Cox passed away at his home in Grady County, GA, on March 1, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Cox, Lavon Cox, III, Jerry Cox, Larry Cox, Jr., Jacky Kenneth Cox and Lynwood Adams.

Mr. Cox was born on October 13, 1947, in Cairo, GA, to the late Lavon Cox, Sr. and Edna Adams Cox. He served his country in the United States Army. On May 1, 2004, he married Betty Ann Keller Cox, who survives. He was an assembly supervisor for Warner’s Clothing. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Ann Keller Cox of Pelham, GA; daughters, Teresa Busby (Edward) of Thomasville, GA, Gena Clark (Jimmy) of Boston, GA; grandchildren, Payton Marshburn of Georgia, Phillip Marshburn of Thomasville, GA, Joseph Clyde Busby of Thomasville, GA, Edward E. Busby (Melissa) of East Point, FL; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Jackie Cox of Pine Park, GA, Lavon Cox, Jr. of Quincy, FL, Jimmy Cox of Cotton, GA, Larry Cox of Ochlocknee, GA; sisters, Glenda Moore of Thomasville, GA, Linda Lashley of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Randy Cox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Cox’s memory to: American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067.

The family will receive friends at Pine Park Baptist Church on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
