George S. Helton

George S. Helton, 77, of Cairo, GA, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 7, 2022. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Mr. Helton was born on September 14, 1944, in Panama City, Panama, to the late James Monroe Helton and Delia Ortega Helton. He served his country in the United States Army. George served in Vietnam and received several medals, including two bronze stars. On October 5, 1968, he married Sara Dyess Helton, who survives. They were married for over 53 years. He was a retired mechanic. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Sara Helton of Cairo, GA; children, Michael Helton (Laurie) of Cairo, GA, Michelle Magruder (Wailes) of Santa Rosa, FL; grandchildren, Miranda Lyons (Luke), Gage Helton (Katy), Merritt Helton, Evin Magruder, Mercer Magruder; great-grandchildren, Katheryn Helton, Zachary Lyons, Brantley Lyons; brothers, Henry Helton of Honolulu, HI, Charles Helton (Jozette) of Spokane, WA; sisters, Judy Pollock of Sumter, SC, Rose Fishburn (Bill) of Spokane, WA, Doris Fabrizio (Sam) of Spokane, WA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
