Gerald Lee Van Brunt, 82, of Cairo, GA, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at his home in Cairo, GA. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.at Cairo First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Cairo, GA, on Saturday, July 2, 2016.
Mr. Van Brunt was born on August 25, 1933, in Cairo, GA, to the late James Heyward Van Brunt, and Cora Lee Bowman Van Brunt. On January 8, 1954, he married Vonda Pharis Van Brunt, who survives. Before his retirement he was the former owner and operator of TJ’s Service Station, Cairo, GA. He was a Baptist Deacon, and was a member of Cairo First Baptist Church. Gerald enjoyed life to its fullest, loving his family and others. He enjoyed helping people and always had a positive, uplifting attitude. He was strong in his Christian faith and led his family by example. Gerald is going to be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, but he is now happy in God’s presence.
Survivors include: wife, Vonda P. Van Brunt of Cairo, GA; daughters, Danette Singletary (Larry) of Thomasville, GA, Susan Zipperer (Jeffery) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Jeri Byrnes (Matthew) of Roswell, GA, Jessi Rush (Daniel) of Thomasville, GA, Sarah Berger (David) of Cumming, GA, Rachel Zipperer of Cairo, GA; great-grandchild, Judah Byrnes of Roswell, GA; sister, Marguerite V. Brinson of Cairo, GA.
He was preceded in death by: parents; brothers, James Van Brunt, Wesley Van Brunt.
