Funeral services for Gerald Stanley Johnson, 68, of Ochlocknee, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Cairo First Assembly of God, Cairo, GA. Rev. Travis Harrison will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Johnson passed away at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, GA, on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
Mr. Johnson was born on November 16, 1955, in Carrabelle, FL, to the late Carroll W. Johnson and the late Ella Belle Logue Johnson.
Having never been employed due to physical disabilities, Gerald is best known for his smiles, hugs and giving of his Trident Cinnamon gum to everyone he encountered. He was a faithful member at Cairo First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his sister, Barbara Varnes of Ochlocknee, GA; brothers, Melburn Johnson of Monticello, Florida and Alfred Johnson of Macon, GA; nephews, Neal Johnson (Lisa) of Greer, SC and Michael Johnson of Macon, GA; nieces, Denise Johnson of Monticello, FL, Nicole Hollen of Macon, GA, Kathy Johnson Kimsey of Macon, GA, Valerie Sumner (Chuck) of Thomasville, GA and Melissa Dawson (Lincoln) of Ochlocknee, GA; great-nephew, Luke Dawson; great-niece, Hannah Dawson; as well as several other great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Larry Varnes; and sisters-in-law, Jackie Peacock Johnson and Patricia Patmore Johnson.
