Funeral services for Grant Deland Humphries, 81, of Athens, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Patrick Friday will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Humphries passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Active pallbearers will be Arthur Humphries, Bruce Humphries, Curtis Humphries, Oscar Humphries, Sonny Humphries, Quinn Postero and Jason Nakai.
Mr. Humphries was born on August 8, 1939, in Queens, NY, to the late Curtis Roger Humphries and Eva Mae Banks Humphries. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and worked as a research coordinator for the UGA Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics. He was a lover of the fine arts, family history, agriculture, photography and passing down family ways of cooking. Grant loved to grill with family and friends. One of his favorite places to visit was Edisto Beach on the coast of South Carolina.
Survivors include: his children, Arthur Eugene Humphries of Athens, GA, Charles Harvey Towns of Athens, GA, Quinn Postero of Decatur, GA; several grandchildren; sister, Aquila M. Little of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Curtis and Eva Humphries; and brothers, Roger Brooks Humphries, Bruce Carter Humphries, Harold Eugene Humphries.
