Funeral services for Gussie Mae Nix, 76, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2023, at Victory Baptist Church, Thomasville, GA. Rev. Gary Holland and Rev. Bryan Gainous will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Thomasville, GA. Mrs. Nix passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Active pallbearers will be Carl Pyle, Brad Barfield, Jeff Smith, Jamie Edenfield, Kenny Barfield, Thomas Barfield and Jesse Barfield.
Mrs. Nix was born on February 17, 1946, in Bainbridge, GA, to the late Jesse Edward Barfield and Dollie Mae Sadler Barfield. On May 27, 1982, she married Ronnie Gene Nix, who preceded her in death on July 28, 2002. They were married over 20 years. She was a retired seamstress. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to so many and we will miss her with all of our hearts. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: her children, Robert E. “Robbie” Singletary of Thomasville, GA, David Singletary (Paula) of Thomasville, GA, Captain Daniel Singletary of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Robyn Singletary of Thomasville, GA, Jackson Singletary of Thomasville, GA, Joseph Singletary of Thomasville, GA, Carl Pyle of Cairo, GA, Wayne Singletary of Cairo, GA, Bridget Singletary of Thomasville, GA, Betty Carter of Thomasville, GA, Tara Singletary of St. Louis, MO, Tucker Singletary of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Adilynne Sanginiti of St. Louis, MO, Carly Ray Singletary of Thomasville, GA, Carter Flynn of Thomasville, GA, Carson Flynn of Thomasville, GA, Jaxon Pyle of Cairo, GA; brothers, Alvin Barfield (Syble) of Cairo, GA, Willard Barfield (Shirley) of Cairo, GA; sisters, Emma Edenfield of Cairo, GA, Linda Griffin (William) of Valdosta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Ronnie Nix; brothers, Tom J. Barfield, MacArthur Barfield; and a brother-in-law, Henry Edenfield.
The family will receive friends at Victory Baptist Church on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
