Gwendolyn Jones Hancock

Funeral services for Gwendolyn Jones Hancock, 78, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Whigham Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Jerry Robertson will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Hancock passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, FL, on Thursday, February 18, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Gordon, Bill Gordon, Blake Hancock, Al Akridge, Keith Larson and Steve Ulmer.

Mrs. Hancock was born on June 20, 1937, in Cairo, GA, to the late John Russell Jones and Lillie Belle Horne Jones. On August 9, 1954, she married Wallace Hancock, who survives. She worked at Wee Care Child Center and drove a school bus for many years for North Florida Christian. She was a member of Whigham Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband, Wallace Hancock of Whigham, GA; son, Kevin Hancock (Faye) of Whigham, GA; daughter, Amy Gordon (Bill) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Christy Winston (John) of Virginia Beach, VA, Blake Hancock (Jessica) of Whigham, GA, Chad Gordon of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Marshall Winston, Elijah Winston, Emma Winston, all of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Jackie Chason of Pelham, GA, Mary Poppell of Concord FL; aunt, Elizabeth Davis of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Connie Vinson.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
