Funeral services for Herman Ira Moore, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Family Worship Center, Cairo, GA. Pastor Johnny H. Moore will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Moore passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on early Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be: Fred Broome, Terry Darsey, Wayne Morgan, Phillip Palmer, Frederick “Tiger” Williams, Paul Alred, Gary Walden, Trey Courtney. Honorary pallbearers will be: Elders of Family Worship Center, Marvin “Buddy” Sasser and Bethany Hospice Nurses, Chaplain and Social Workers.

Mr. Moore was born on January 14, 1930, in Climax, GA, to the late James Walter Moore and Kate Miller Moore. He served his country in the United States Navy. On May 1, 1955, he married Greta Weathers Moore, who survives. For many years he owned and operated Cairo Glass Company. He later operated his picture framing operation, Moore’s Frame Shop. He was a member of Family Worship Center in Cairo. Herman will always be remembered for his quiet demeanor, his abilities as a master craftsman, and his quiet walks around Cairo with his favorite dog, Snickers.

Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Greta Weathers Moore of Cairo, GA; daughter, Jane Walden (Gary) of Cairo, GA; sons, Pastor Johnny H. Moore (Dianne) of Cairo, GA, Michael Moore (Nive) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Moore (Hannah) of Cairo, GA, Jonathan Moore (Ashley) of Cairo, GA, Anna Moore of Cairo, GA, Hailee Moore of Cairo, GA, Madison Moore of Cairo, GA; sisters, Faye Strickland (Glenn) of Cairo, GA, Sara McKown (Buzz) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
