Herschell Allen Owen
October 22, 1939 – November 10, 2021

Herschell Allen Owen, 82, of Cherryville, NC, passed away peacefully November 10, 2021.  He was born in Cairo, GA on October 22, 1939, to Herschell and Doletha Owen.  He was seventh of eight children.

As a young man, he excelled with the Cairo Swim Team.  While attending Lively Vocational School he worked the drag race pits for his brother-in-law, which led him to be a first-class mechanic.  His career at Kinnebrew Motors trail blazed the fabrication of the first “Dune Buggy” in the Tallahassee area.  That success led him in a joint venture of owning and operating Overseas Auto Service in Tallahassee.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Herschell and Doletha Owen, two brothers and three sisters.

Allen is survived by: the mother of his children, Jeanette Westcott of Havana, FL; children, Tina Fowler (Ashley) of Tallahassee, FL, Carroll Owen (Kelley) of Crawfordville, FL, Teresa Reep (Dave) of Glen Alpine, NC; grandchildren, Alan Brewer and Nicole Loscialo of Tallahassee, FL, Kevin Owen of Odessa, FL, Chase Owen (Nikkie) of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, Jenna Owen, Joseph Owen and Daniel Owen, all of Crawfordville, FL, Justin Reep (Gaby) of Glen Alpine, NC, Reagan Reep of Nebo, NC, Morgan Reep of Glen Alpine, NC; great-grandchildren, Alexis Owen and Christopher Owen of Odess, FL, Parker Nesslage and Paxton Charette of Crawfordville, FL, Killian Owen and Ellie Owen of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, Barrett Reep of Glen Alpine, NC; sisters, Lorene Walden of Cairo, GA, Bertie Dollar of Colquitt, GA; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services are scheduled on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in Greenwood Cemetery, Highway 84, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate.
