Irene D. Bennett

Funeral services for Irene D. Bennett, 82, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Jack House will officiate. Services will conclude in the church. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Bennett passed away at her home in Cairo, GA, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Mrs. Bennett was born on December 21, 1934, in Lewiston, Maine, to the late Henri Mattieu and Florida Grandeux Mattieu. She married Chester Walker Bennett, who preceded her in death on January 7, 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughter, Paula Mobley of Cairo, GA; son, Thomas Bennett (Susan) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, John Mobley of Florida, Jennifer Sarkadi (Peter) of Florida, Matt Bennett (Jessica) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Hannah Sarkadi, Bence Sarkadi, both of Florida; nephews, Leo Mattieu of California and Michael Mattieu of Maine.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and one sister and one brother.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church immediately following the funeral service.
