James Duffie Jones

Funeral services for James Duffie Jones, 93, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Gordon Cloud and Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Park Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Jones passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Friday morning, January 20, 2017.
Mr. Jones was born on January 13, 1924, in Whigham, GA, to the late Russell Twitty Jones and Zona Owens Jones. He served his country 23 years in the United States Army, and fought in World War II and the Vietnam War. On May 20, 1945, he married Irma Roland Jones, who survives. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith and a longtime deacon and member of Pine Park Baptist Church. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and provider.
Survivors include: his wife of 71 years, Irma Roland Jones of Cairo, GA; daughter, Mary Jones Winter (William) of Cairo, GA; son-in-law, Ivan Roland of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Cassandra Hall Snodgrass of Cairo, GA, Anthony Biggie (Dawn) of Raleigh, NC, James Winter (Kelley) of Monroe, NC, Donnie Roland of Milledgeville, GA; great-grandchildren, Harley Biggie of Little Rock, AR, Joseph Smith of Raleigh, NC, Chase Winter and Riley Winter, both of Monroe, NC, Kali and Ashton Roland, both of Milledgeville, GA; and brothers, O. C. Jones of Smithfield, GA, Howard Jones of Tallahassee, FL.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, daughter, Kathie Jo Roland; son, Donnie Jones; brothers, Sam Jones, Russell T. Jones Jr.; and sisters, Betty Costello, Mae Hart, Carlene Jenkins, Patricia Dempsey.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
