James Lamar Cummings

Funeral services for James Lamar Cummings, 85, of Valdosta, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2018, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Steve Wooten will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Park Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Cummings passed away at Crestwood Nursing Home, Valdosta, GA, on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Active pallbearers will be: son, Jimmy Cummings, grandson, Bo Blanton and nephews, Michael Strickland, Jerome Cummings, Barry Prince, Keith Ingram and Edward Ingram. Honorary pallbearers will be Cairo Legionnaires.
Mr. Cummings was born on April 2, 1932, in Cairo, GA, to the late Thomas Watson “T.W.” Cummings and Lulabelle Royals Cummings. He served his country in the United States Army, and was married to Betty Ingram Cummings, who survives. He was a Comptroller with Sunnyland, Inc., and a member of Pine Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include: wife, Betty Ingram Cummings, Cairo, GA; daughter, Lynn Blanton (Clyo) of Quitman, GA; son Jimmy Cummings of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, James Hugh “Bo” Blanton of Valdosta, GA, Elizabeth Marie Anderson (Eric) of Valdosta, GA; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Cooper Anderson, both of Valdosta, GA; brother, Bobby Cummings (June) of Thomasville, GA; and an aunt, Edna Barbee of Cairo, GA.
He was preceded in death by: parents; daughter, Elizabeth Cummings; and brothers, Jack, Joe and Jerry Cummings.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Cummings memory to: Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, Monday, January 15, 2018.
