James Paul Pinkard

Graveside funeral services for James Paul Pinkard, 93, of Norfolk, VA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Pastor Steve Poppell will officiate. Mr. Pinkard passed away at his home in Norfolk, VA, on Sunday morning, October 23, 2016.

Mr. Pinkard was born on January 1, 1923, in Victoria, VA, to the late John W. Pinkard and Etha Jones Pinkard. James was married to Thelma Vortelle Clark Pinkard, who preceded him in death on May 24, 2010. They were married for 53 years. James proudly served his country in the Navy on the USS Idaho during WWII and retired after 42 years. He also enjoyed his time as a long-standing member of Stumpy Lakes Golf Association.

Survivors include: his brother, Wayne Pinkard (Connie) of Atlanta, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Thelma Vortelle Clark Pinkard; and brothers, Lynwood Pinkard, Raymond Pinkard, Harry Pinkard, Roy Pinkard, William Pinkard, Earl Pinkard, Andrew Pinkard, Keith Pinkard, Kenneth Pinkard and Bobby Pinkard.
