Janet De Morest Cornelius
January 11, 1955 – December 17, 2020

Graveside funeral services for Janet De Morest Cornelius, 65, of Grady County, GA, will be on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, GA.  Rev. David Pickering will officiate.  Mrs. Cornelius passed away at her home on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Active pallbearers will be Christopher Howell, Dan Soskel, Bryan Watkins, Dee Simpson, Jesse Jones and Robbie Thomas.

Mrs. Cornelius was born on January 11, 1955, in Fort Leavenworth, KA, to the late John Nichols De Morest and Luva Harper De Morest Howell.  She was a graduate of Cairo High Class of 1973.  On December 27, 1996, she married Robert “Bob” Cornelius, who preceded her in death on December 5, 1999.  She was a loan auditor with Capital City Bank of Tallahassee.  She was attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include: brothers and sisters, Stephen Howell (Sheila) of Pelham, GA, Jeanne Melnick (John) of Pelham, GA, Lynda Moseley (Bruce) of Bryceville, FL, Libbie Brown of Miller County, GA, Donna Howell of Jacksonville, FL, Renee’ Jones of Cairo, GA; nieces and nephews, Michelle Soskel (Daniel), Rebecca Watkins (Bryan), Charity Simpson (Dee), Christopher Howell (Catherine), Jesse Jones; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sarah Watkins, Samuel Watkins, Tristan Soskel, Jackson Simpson, Caroline Howell, Jace Jones, Jordan Jones, Ava Jones; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; step-father, Ray Howell; and a brother, David Howell.
