Janice Hancock Mobley

Graveside funeral services for Janice Hancock Mobley, 82, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Janice passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at her home in Whigham, GA. Janice was born on July 19, 1942, at home in Miccosukee, FL, to the late Homer and Rosa Hancock. On August 27, 1961, she married Kenneth Pope Mobley. They loved each other in marriage for over 50 years, until his death in 2012. Janice loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. Janice was an active member in the Baptist church and she used her talents to serve the Lord by playing the piano and organ to lead worship services. Janice retired from United National Bank in 2013.
Janice was very smart, creative and talented in so many areas of life. She was salutatorian of her Cairo High School class and won 1st place in the state typing competition. She enjoyed sewing, woodworking and was always excited to try a new craft project. She loved her family and was known as “Jannie” to her four grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family, but we can rejoice that she is now healed in the presence of the Lord and we will be with her again one day.
Janice was preceded in death by: her husband, Pope; her parents, Homer and Rosa; sister, Kathy Scott; brothers, Dee Hancock, Roy Hancock, and Bobby Hancock; and granddaughter, Marla Kim Brock.
Survivors include: daughters, Kim Brock (Earl) of Whigham, GA, Connie Butler (Walter) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Dana Rhodes (Alex) of Tallahassee, FL, Connor Butler (Suzanne) of Valdosta, GA, Kent Brock (Elena) of Tallahassee, FL, and Holly Hembree (Zeke) of Moultrie, GA; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Meredith Rhodes of Tallahassee, FL, Ellison and Ava Butler of Valdosta, GA and Jack Hembree of Moultrie, GA; sister, Dorothy Barrineau (Wendell) of Whigham, GA, sisters-in-law, Beth Hancock of Cairo, GA, Jackie Hancock of Tallahassee, FL, Joyce McDaniel of Cairo, GA, Betty Singletary of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
