John Layton Bailey
September 16, 1936 – April 18, 2016

Funeral services for John Layton Bailey, 79, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Carl Harrell and Rev. Chris Allen will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Mr. Bailey passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 18, 2016.

Mr. Bailey was born on September 16, 1936, in Ellenboro, NC, to the late Charles Bailey and Ella Turner Bailey. On June 27, 1959, he married Rachael Skipper Bailey, who survives. He retired from Ansco and Associates. He was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church in Forest City, NC, and he recently attended First Baptist Church of Cairo.

Survivors include: wife, Rachael Skipper Bailey of Cairo, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Chris Addleton of Cairo, GA; grandsons, Blake Addleton of Lexington, KY, Ben Addleton of Cairo, GA; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bailey of Rutherfordton, NC; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: parents; son, Terry Bailey; sisters, Sara Lee Yelton, Sue Nanney, Dorothy Owens; and brothers, Hubert Bailey, Hoyte Bailey, Howard Bailey.

The family will receive friends at his daughter’s home or at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral service.
