Joseph Wendell “Joe” Davis
March 30, 1936 – April 12, 2021

Graveside funeral services for Joseph Wendell “Joe” Davis, 85, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. David Harrell will officiate.  Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Davis passed away at his home on Monday, April 12, 2021.

Mr. Davis was born on March 30, 1936, in Cairo, GA, to the late John Leon Davis and Nellie Shepard Davis.  He served his country in the United States Army.  On April 4, 1974, he married Nadine Carver Davis, who preceded him in death on March 27, 2021.  He retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission and worked in Grady County.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: children, Alan Davis (Michael) of Valdosta, GA, Burt Reagan (Cindy) of Cairo, GA, Kay Owens (Glen) of Ochlocknee, GA; grandchildren, Danielle Watson (Marcus) of Thomasville, GA, Joel Hayes (Payge) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Hancock of Thomasville, GA, Mackenzie Owens of Tallahassee, FL, Kie Watson of Thomasville, GA; an honorary child, Edgar Escobar of Tlaxcala City, Mexico; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wives, Grace Keller Davis, Nadine Carver Davis; son, Rodney Lynn Davis; brother, Murry Davis; and a step-brother, Carl Hanna.
