Memorial services for Joyce Lindsay Poppell, 74, of Whigham, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Pastor Steve Poppell will officiate. Services will conclude in the Chapel. Private interment will be in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Poppell passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

Mrs. Poppell was born on October 26, 1942, in Thomasville, GA, to the late James Lindsay and Lois Starling Lindsay. On June, 27, 1971, she married William Calvin “WC” Poppell, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1997. She was a loving housewife and mother who worked many years as the secretary for the family business, Specialized Tank Services. Joyce was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: her sons, Jimmy Poppell (Bonnie) of Whigham, GA, Steve Poppell (Tracy) of Whigham, GA, Glenn Poppell of Thomasville, GA, Gary Poppell (Martha) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Deven Killough (Ben) of Whigham, GA, Meagan Poppell of Cairo, GA, Christopher Poppell (Nicole) of Debery, FL, Lynlee Poppell of Cairo, GA, Whitney Poppell of Whigham, GA, Emilee Poppell of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Hunter Guldenenpfennig of Debery, FL, Sophia Poppell of Deland, FL, Nolan Killough of Whigham, GA, Avery Killough of Whigham, GA; nieces and nephews, Debbie Higgenbotham, Scotty Mathis, Marcus Ross.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and a sister, Florence Mathis.

The family will receive friends at Union Springs Baptist Church immediately following the memorial service.
