Funeral services for June Maxwell Whigham, 82, of Whigham, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Jimmy Ausburn and Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Whigham passed away at her home in Whigham, GA, on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
Active pallbearers will be Cole Whigham, Alex Russell, Wayne Connell, Jim Wheeler, Kevin Baggett, Kipp Coram, Cody Godwin and Ferris Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Andy Dekle, Rayford Harrell, David Wynn, J. B. Cornell, Thurman Whigham, Ben Pickett, Sharon Lowe, Val Cornell, Joyce Harrell, Marsha Dollar, Valarie Jones and members of Pine Level Baptist Church Friendship Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Whigham was born on June 15, 1937, in Whigham, GA, to the late William Yancy Maxwell and Maggie Eula Ausburn Maxwell. On June 20, 1953, she married the love of her life, James Clinton Whigham, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2018. They were married for 64 years. Her passion in life was growing things, whether it be nurturing her grandchildren or working in her flowerbeds. She was a devoted member of Pine Level Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She loved her family, and the grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Survivors include: daughters, Jane Connell (Ronnie) of Cairo, GA, Brenda Russell (Mike) of Whigham, GA, Lisa White (Ricky) of Pelham, GA; son, Weldon Whigham (Gina) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Wayne Connell of Cairo, GA, Wendy Wheeler (Jim) of Cairo, GA, Alex Russell (fiancée, Hannah Harrison) of Cairo, GA, Rachel Baggett (Kevin) of Norfolk, VA, Lauren White (fiancé, Ferris Taylor) of Pelham, GA, Leea Godwin (Cody) of Pelham, GA, Jamie Coram (Kipp) of Ochlocknee, GA, Cole Whigham (fiancée, Carley Gainous) of Cairo, GA, Cydney Whigham (fiancé, Trey Harrell) of Cairo, GA, Morgan Whigham (Jacob Ausley) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren: Laura Stephens of Thomasville, GA, Dawson Connell of Cairo, GA, Jacob Connell of Cairo, GA, Jon Thomas Wheeler of Cairo, GA, Colin Wheeler of Cairo, GA, Garrett Taylor of Pelham, GA, Tucker Godwin of Pelham, GA, Clint Baggett of Norfolk, VA, Caroline Baggett of Norfolk, VA; brothers, Robert Maxwell of Whigham, GA, Yancey Maxwell (Janice) of Whigham, GA; sister, Grace Butler of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; sisters, Nancy Maxwell, an infant sister; and a brother, Jerry Maxwell.
