Funeral services for Karen Wynell Barrett Harrison, 72, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2017, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Bob Knight will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Harrison passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Friday, December 30, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Whitfield, Anthony Whitfield, Scott Barrett, Paul Forrester, Bo Ladner and Dustin Starling.

Mrs. Harrison was born on January 5, 1944, in Cairo, GA, to the late Emory O. Barrett and Imogene Miller Barrett. On August 18, 1963, she married Charles Joseph “C.J.” Harrison, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2010. Their marriage of 46 years was one that was based on a love that never grew old, only stronger. They were dedicated and devoted to each other’s needs and adored each other now as much as the first time they met. Karen was a homemaker and devoted member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham, GA.

Survivors include: brothers, Ray Barrett (Joyce) of Cairo, GA, Jerry Barrett of Smyrna, GA; sister, Kay Whitfield (Don) of Tifton, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Hicks (Ted) of Ochlocknee, GA, Barbara Lewis of Thomasville, GA, Merlene Chastain (Tim) of Thomasville, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and a brother, Eldon Barrett.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Harrison’s memory to: El Bethel Baptist Church, P. O. Box 367, Whigham, GA 39897; or Pine Level Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 298 Pine Level Road, Cairo, GA 39827.

The family will receive friends at El Bethel Baptist Church on Sunday, January 1, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., the funeral hour.
