Larry “Coon Dog” McCorkle

Graveside funeral services for Larry Roland McCorkle, 69, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2021, in Capel Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Rev. Stan Godwin and Rev. Johnny Burdick will officiate. Larry peacefully passed away at his home on Friday, April 30, 2021.
Larry was born on August 30, 1951, in Washington, DC, to the late James Earl McCorkle and Myrtle Roberson McCorkle, who survives. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve. On March 3, 1972, he married Alice Courtney McCorkle, who survives. They were married for over 49 years. He was a master timber harvester, a member of the Southeastern Wood Producers Association and the owner-operator of Coon Dog Logging, Inc. Larry and Alice enjoyed traveling with the “Six Pack” over the years. He was a dedicated member and deacon of Capel Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: his wife, Alice McCorkle of Cairo, GA; daughters, Allison Bass (Joel) of Cairo, GA, Laura Brinkley (Ben) of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Farrar Bass, Dray Bass, both of Cairo, GA; mother, Myrtle “Myrt” McCorkle of Cairo, GA; sister, Debbi Miller (Steve) of Cairo, GA; his hunting partner and best friend, Keith Lacy (Alicia) of Cairo; godson, Lee Brady of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
Larry’s family includes his dedicated employees and their families of Coon Dog Logging.
