Larry Washington Hudson

Funeral services for Larry Washington Hudson, 76, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Long Branch Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Chris Allen will officiate. Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Hudson passed away at Magnolia Place, Cairo, GA, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Active pallbearers will be Daniel Stokes, Wayne Stokes, Walt Butler, Kevin Strickland, Mark Bryant and Charlie Purcell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hammett, Marty McGuire, Carl Lee, and John Tillis.
Mr. Hudson was born on June 10, 1948, in Cairo, GA, to the late Paul Washington Hudson and Bernice Walker Hudson. On January 16, 1971, he married Sandra Gail Willis Hudson, and she preceded him in death on June 13, 2005.
Larry was a retired forester with the Georgia Forestry Commission. After retirement, Larry worked part time with the National Resources Conservation Service. He also worked as an election official for Grady County for many years until his death. Larry could usually be found at Three Squares Diner, or a Cairo Syrupmaker football game. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially being Poppi to his six grandchildren. Larry was a longtime member of Long Branch Baptist Church and loved his church and church family deeply.
Survivors include his son, Michael Hudson (Jessica) of Douglas, GA; daughters, Misty Gibson (Ed) of Evans, GA and Melanie Anderson (Blake) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, McKenna Hudson, Maddie Hudson, Marlee Hudson, Mason Stuckey, Maleigh Anderson and Wyatt Gibson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, brothers, Johnny Hudson, R.J. Hudson, Danny Hudson; sisters, Rochelle Warren and Doxie Stokes.
