Funeral services for Madeline Collins Strickland, 90, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Gordon Heights Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Al Sessions will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Strickland passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Monday, September 28, 2015.
Active pallbearers will be Stephen Strickland, Gabe Strickland, Michael Strickland, Ray Strickland, Clay Strickland, Roger Hall and Joe White.
Mrs. Strickland was born on June 13, 1925, in Whigham, GA, to the late Charlie Collins and Effie Thomas Collins. On May 24, 1943, she married Pierce D. Strickland, who preceded her in death on November 29, 2006. She owned and operated Strickland Upholstery in Cairo until her retirement. She was a member of Gordon Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son, Richard Strickland (Judy) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Pierrette Hall (Roger) of Mansfield, GA, Danielle Barbo of Covington, GA, Stephen Strickland (Brande) of Cairo, GA, Rachel White (Joe) of Canton, GA; great-grandchildren, Andy Hall, Alex Hall, Caroline Hall, all of Mansfield, GA, Camden Barbo of Covington, GA, Carli Barbo of Athens, GA, Gabe Strickland of Cairo, GA, Haven Gammill, Jewell Grace Gammill, both of Cairo, GA, Reagan White, Emery White, both of Canton, GA; great-great-grandchildren; Aidan Hall, Asher Hall, Zeke Hall, all of Mansfield, GA; brothers, Floyd Collins of Columbus, GA, Lynwood Collins of Whigham, GA, Rodney Collins of Thomasville, GA; sister, Jean Strickland of Whigham, GA; and a daughter-in-law, Elsie Strickland of Social Circle, GA.
She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; son, Stephen Pierce Strickland; and sisters, Ina Cutchins, Christine Henderson, Melba O’Hara.
The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of Gordon Heights Baptist Church immediately following the funeral service.
